Dorothy attended her family reunion last summer, but she reported an odd incident during the festivities. She was watching a group of adults and a group of children competing against one another in a race of about 30 yards. Dorothy was surprised to see a child win the race, but Dorothy also noted she was unable to see any of the participant's legs during the race. Dorothy has excellent vision, and her mental faculties are intact, but neither she nor any of the other spectators were able to see any sign of the racer's legs during the brief competition. Since none of the racers were amputees, and Dorothy wasn't imagining things, what do you suppose was the cause of her inability to see any of the racer’s legs during the race?
Answer: The adults and children were participating in a sack race at the family reunion.

Answer: The first woman was an American, and had lost ten pounds in WEIGHT. The second woman was an European, and had lost ten pounds in MONEY.

General Gasslefield, accused of high treason, is sentenced to death by court-martial. He is allowed to make a final statement, after which he will be shot if the statement is false or will be hung if the statement is true. Gasslefield makes his final statement and is released.
The Question: What could he have said?
Answer: General Gasslefield said: "I will be shot." If this statement was true, he would have been hung and thus not be shot. But then his statement would be false, which implies that he should be shot, making the statement true again, etc... In other words: the verdict of the court-martial could not be executed and the general was released.

In the grocery store, Sal met his only daughter's only husband's mother-in-law's only mother-in-law. Who was she?
Answer: Sal's mother. (His son-in-law's mother-in-law was his wife; her mother-in-law was Sal's mother.)

What common English word will describe a person or thing as not being found in any place and yet with no changes other than a space between syllables, will correctly describe that person or thing as being actually present at this very moment?
Answer: The word is "NOWHERE". When a space is placed between the 'w' and 'h', you get the words "NOW HERE".

There are four words. Two of them have four letters, and the other two have five letters. The four-letter words have two vowels and two consonants. The five-letter words have two vowels and three consonants. If you read one of the four-letter words backward, you will get the other four-letter word. If you put a consonant in the beginning of a four-letter word you'll get one of the five-letter words. If you put the same consonant to the end of the other four-letter word you will get the other five-letter word, which is also read backward as the first five-letter word. Riddle:
A hiker comes to a fork in the road and doesn't know which way to go to reach his destination. There are two men at the fork, one of whom always tells the truth while the other always lies. The hiker doesn't know which is which, though. He may ask one of the men only one question to find his way. Which man does he ask, and what is the question?
Answer: Either man should be asked the following question: "If I were to ask you if this is the way I should go, would you say yes?" While asking the question, the hiker should be pointing at either of the directions going from the fork.
