Riddle: A sharpshooter hung up his hat and put on a blindfold. He then walked 100 yards, turned around, and shot a bullet through his hat. The blindfold was a perfectly good one, completely blocking the man's vision. How did he manage this?
Answer: He hung is hat on the barrel of his gun.
Riddle: What can you put in a barrel, that will make the barrel lighter?
Answer: A Hole.
Riddle: What's weightless, visible to the naked eye, and when you put it in a barrel of water it will make the barrel lighter in weight?
Answer: A hole!
Riddle: A man takes a barrel that weighs 20 pounds and then puts something in it. It now weighs less than 20 pounds. What did he put in the barrel?
Answer: He put a hole in the barrel to make it weigh less.
Riddle: What can be seen, but cannot be touched, and when put in a barrel, will make the barrel lighter?
Answer: A beam of light!
Riddle: Buckets, Barrels, Baskets, Cans. What must you fill with empty hands?
Answer: Gloves, duh!
Riddle: There is a barrel with no lid and some wine in it. "This barrel of wine is more than half full," said Curly. "No it's not," says Mo. "It's less than half full." Without any measuring implements and without removing any wine from the barrel, how can they easily determine who is correct?
Answer: Tilt the barrel until the wine barely touches the lip of the barrel. If the bottom of the barrel is visible then it is less than half full. If the barrel bottom is still completely covered by the wine, then it is more than half full.
Riddle: Two wine merchants arrive at the gates of Paris. One has 64 and the other 20 barrels of wine. Since they have not enough money to pay the custom duties, the first pays 40 francs and 5 barrels of wine. The second pays 2 barrels of wine but receives 40 francs in change. What is the value of each barrel of wine and what is the duty payable?
Answer: The value of a barrel is 120 francs and the duty is 10 francs a barrel.
Riddle: I am a perching barrel, filled with meat, Taking hits from leaps and dives. Look inside, but do not eat, The meat in there is still alive! What am I?
Answer: A thimble on a finger.
